Project Overview

The Las Cruces Water Project aims to provide the community, Cerro Lindo Las Cruces, with direct access to water, with a proposed solution featuring a solar-powered water pump to a high point in the community followed by gravity distribution to the houses, either with individual connections or tap stands.

Cerro Lindo Las Cruces, Guatemala, is a small community of approximately 28 families (110 people), ~200 kilometers North of Guatemala City. Residents do not have electrical infrastructure and currently utilizes a spring as their water source. The spring is located at a lower altitude than the houses and is a 40-minute walk for residents to reach to collect water. The spring has a catchment box, tank, and reservoir to collect water, along with wash stations.

The Guatemala team is composed of both students and professional mentors, and they are excited to work with the community on this project!

The team is currently preparing for their first assessment trip.
